Complex Aortic & Endovascular Surgery

Abdominal & Thoracoabdominal Aorta

In Situ Laser-Fenestration

Creating precise graft openings to preserve branch arteries.

Overview

What it is

In situ laser-fenestration creates precise openings in a stent-graft after it is placed, restoring flow to branch arteries during complex aortic repair when off-the-shelf devices don’t fit the anatomy or there isn’t time to build a custom graft.

When it’s recommended

  • Complex or urgent anatomy not suited to a pre-made device
  • Need to preserve flow to arch or visceral branches
  • Selected endovascular reconstructions

How it’s performed

Every plan is individualized and reviewed by our multidisciplinary aortic team.

The covered stent-graft is deployed across the branch

A laser creates a precise fenestration aligned to the artery

A small covered stent bridges the graft to the branch

Flow and seal are confirmed by imaging

Recovery

Recovery & follow-up

A minimally invasive recovery with surveillance imaging, individualized to the overall repair.
