EVAR — Endovascular Aneurysm Repair

A minimally invasive stent-graft for infrarenal abdominal aneurysms.

Overview

What it is

EVAR treats abdominal aortic aneurysms by delivering a stent-graft through small groin incisions and deploying it inside the aorta to reinforce the wall and seal off the aneurysm. Compared with open surgery it means smaller incisions, less pain, fewer complications, and a faster recovery.

When it’s recommended

  • Infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm with suitable anatomy
  • Patients seeking a faster recovery
  • Higher-risk patients who may not tolerate open surgery

How it’s performed

Every plan is individualized and reviewed by our multidisciplinary aortic team.

CT angiography to confirm anatomy and size the device

Stent-graft delivered through small groin punctures

The graft is deployed and seals the aneurysm from within

Completion imaging confirms the result

Recovery

Recovery & follow-up

Most patients go home within a day or two and return to normal activity quickly; lifelong imaging follow-up confirms the stent-graft keeps working.
